The future Nissan Qashqai, set to launch in 2021, will no longer be equipped with a diesel engine. It will be completely reliant on gasoline and hybrids, reports automotive news specialist Voiture Valk.
Diesel is gradually disappearing from manufacturers’ catalogs. This will also be the case for compact SUVs. Nissan will certainly not use this type of engine for its upcoming Qashqai.

Indeed, following the recent decline in diesel model sales, the brand’s European president, Gianluca de Ficchy, stated that Nissan will adapt. He wants electrified models to represent more than 40% of the brand’s sales in Europe by 2022. The goal is, of course, to minimize CO2 emissions to avoid sanctions imposed by Brussels on car manufacturers.
To achieve this, Nissan is relying on gasoline engines and, of course, on plug-in hybrids, which the company shares with the upcoming Renault Kadjar (2021). Nissan Ariya Electric Concept
At the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Nissan presented the IMQ concept, which anticipates the Nissan Qashqai 3, set to launch in early 2021. Also note that a 100% electric SUV, the Ariya, will go on sale in the second half of 2020.
